Samsung has announced new Pro Plus and Evo Plus memory cards in its SD and microSD cards portfolio that promise to deliver faster speeds. The new inclusions broaden Samsung’s clan that now consists Pro Plus, Pro, EVO Plus and EVO families, almost mimicking the family lineup of its SSD lineup.
Samsung’s Pro Plus comes with support for 4K UHD video content created from high-end DSLRs, smartphones, tablets and modern action cameras, says Samsung. With its higher read and write speeds of up to 95MB/s and 90MB/s, respectively, the Pro Plus SD cards and microSD cards claim to deliver both UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Speed Class 10 performance levels.It will be available in 64GB and 32GB storage capacities. The 64GB card can record 110 minutes of 4K UHD video or 490 minutes of full HD video.
The Evo Plus memory cards will also be available in SD and microSD form factors. It has read and write speeds up to 80MB/s and 20MB/s respectively. It promises more advanced read performance compared to the existing Evo lineup. The Evo Plus cards will be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage space. The 128GB version of Evo Plus card can store a maximum of 10,940 photos, 30,670 songs or 980 minutes of Full HD video recording, claims the company.
Un-Soo Kim, Senior Vice President of Branded Product Marketing, Memory Business at Samsung Electronics said, “With the increase of 4K UHD enabled devices and market needs for memory capacity, the Pro Plus and Evo Plus lineups are optimized solutions that will meet today’s user expectations.”
Samsung’s’ new microSD cards will be available this month, followed by SD cards. Pricing and availability in India details aren’t yet out.
